~Nap Day Tradition~

Hello Friends, Today is a good and pleasant day and the day I call my nap day.
.
I am aware many of you are brave souls that battle the crowds for the special deals at the shopping centers on the biggest shopping day of the year, but I, my friends, like to laze around all day with my turkey hang over, a good book intermingled with a few naps. It is a big part of my Thanksgiving tradition.
.
I love Thanksgiving for many different reasons, and at the top of my list is being invited to my best friends house every year for the best feast ever.
.
Sue is a wonderful cook and proud of her turkeys. This years turkey weighed 34 3/4 pounds (note photo above) and this is not her biggest turkey. Two years ago she cooked a 36 pound turkey.
.
Sue travels each year to "Turkeyville" for her fresh turkey.
.
She gets up early and cooks all day.
.
On her menu you will find, Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, turnips, sweet potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce, fruit salad, condiments, fresh vegetables., rolls and various pies with whipped topping.
.
It is not only a day of good food, but a day of good memories and laughter over shared stories of the kids as they grew up, lots of hugs and sometimes a craft or card game.
.
Sue will not let anyone do the dishes and she always sends every one away with a arm full of left overs. :-)
.
My nap day tradition is the frosting on my cake.
.
It helps my Thanksgiving day linger in my heart and I can say to myself, "Aren't I the Lucky one."
.
I Pray your Thanksgiving day is lingering in your heart today. God willing i will be back soon. Love Dee
.
And if you are reading this Sue...I love you. I am blessed to have you as my best friend.

What I Love More Than Doodles

Hello Friends, I want to take a few moments from my full week of busyness to thank each of you for your uplifting affirmations about my doodle art.
*
Each comment is an encouragement to keep a forward move on my art journey.
*
A blank journal, and a new sharpie pen, is indeed a source of joy to me, and i am ever thankful to the Lord for this gift. But what brings real joy to me is my Bible study. I love Bible study! I love Bible study more than I love making doodles.
*
I see the Bible, and the desire to study it, as the greatest of all the gifts the Lord has given me next to salvation.
*
When I do my Bible study, my heart finds hope in the midst of a muddled and tangled world.
*
The more often I study God's word, my inner drive urges me to look deeper.
*
To Seek and find spiritual wisdom and joy in the Lord.
*
And just like when i doodle, My spirit is nurtured and I receive heart blessings.
*
It is like receiving a love dart from the Lord. :-)
*
May God keep you safe through the night and bless your day of worship.
*
Love Dee

>Oodles Of Doodles<

Hi Friends, Welcome to another "Oodles Of Doodles."
.
As I have mentioned in other posts, my doodling keeps me out of mental ruts.
.
My doodling also keeps me hip and happy...welllll, Happy anyway! :)
.
I look at my ability to doodle as a God given outlet, and I am thankful for each and every doodle that appear in my journals.
.
I hope you will get inspired to try a doodle of your own, you have them living in the right side of your brain just like me. All it takes is a pen and paper, and a prayer, to let them out.
.
God willing I will be back soon! Love Dee

Back Road Wanderings

Hello Friends, Yesterday was my day to cook, so i ventured out of "Secret Haven" to purchase a nice hot and healthy Wendy's chili for Frank and I.
.
As I often do, I wandered the back roads to reach my destination.
.
From road to road I wandered.
.
I waited and watched for a glimpse of a deer, rabbit, fox or eagle.
.
I was also hoping I would come across an abandoned church or homestead of years gone by. This area i live in is dotted with them.
.
I did not see any old buildings or critters, but i did see hundreds of Canadian Geese in a park pond. They were fascinating to watch, but they were not very happy at my presence, so i did not linger long. I took the above photo's from my car window. I also had Frank at home in "Secret Haven" waiting for me to serve dinner. :-/
.
I am glad for my back roads.
.
It is on these roads I find the small pleasures in life.
.
It is on these back roads I seek my Lord in open and free conversation.
.
On these back roads i count my blessings, and the mistakes that vex me and all the cares that distract me, fade away.
.
My spirit becomes quiet.
.
I hope you will on occasion, get off the main road to wander a back road and let the peace of the Lord quiet your spirit.
.
God willing, and if I can remember to keep my camera with me, I will share future back road wanderings with you.
.
If you click on the photo's they will enlarge and you will be able to view them better. Also, please do not worry about me on my back road wanderings, I have the Lord with me and i also have "ON Star." :-) Love Dee
